FAQ/Information

What is Brainspotting?

Brainspotting was founded and developed from 2003 by David Grand, Ph.D. It is a brain-body (bottom up processing) therapy that helps identify, process and release emotional or body pain, trauma and other challenging symptoms. Brainspotting works differently from other psychotherapies and healing modalities in a variety of ways. It utilises points in your visual field to access your brain’s self-scanning and self-healing properties.

How will I feel after a session?

Individual experiences vary but you may feel tired or energised. If you are feeling tired then driving or operating heavy machinery is not recommended. It’s common for your brain and body to continue processing the session for several days.

How long is a session?

Sessions vary and may last between 60 to 90 minutes.

How many sessions will I need?

This is decided by the client and their intuition. Each client will be different.

What training have you had?

I have been trained by BSP UK (more info) in Phases 1, 2 & 4. Prior to training in Brainspotting I studied trauma through a somatic lens.

My highest level of education is a bachelor's degree with honours.

What is your fee?

£45 per session

"I have worked with Rachael over a number of sessions and can't recommend her highly enough- she is approachable and empathic. The somatic techniques that Rachael uses are gentle but powerful, and specifically, helped me manage my feelings and my reactions in the anticipation of an annual family event that usually causes dread and anxiety in me...... I ended up having a blast with zero emotional repercussion!"
